All submissions undergo an initial editorial screening (desk review) to determine whether the manuscript is within scope and meets minimum requirements (scientific completeness, ethics/compliance, and baseline structure/language quality). Manuscripts that are clearly out of scope or not salvageable at this stage may be declined without external peer review. Potentially salvageable submissions may be returned to authors for mandatory pre-review corrections before being sent to external double-blind peer review.

• Double-blind peer review for research articles and reviews.
• Independent handling editor for submissions involving editors/board members (COI management).
• Appeals are considered with justification and supporting evidence.

Required files

• Manuscript prepared in the BioNatura template (DOCX).
• Figures uploaded as separate high-quality files (JPG/PNG/TIFF) + figure legends in the manuscript.
• Cover letter (recommended) summarizing novelty, scope fit, and ethics compliance.
• Supplementary material (if any) clearly labeled.

Reporting & data (when applicable)

• Data availability statement (repository link or availability on request).
• Reporting guidelines (CONSORT/PRISMA/STROBE/ARRIVE, as appropriate).
• Clinical trials must include registry ID and ethics approval.

Mandatory statements in the manuscript

• Ethics approval / consent (human/animal research).
• Conflicts of interest declaration (for all authors).
• Funding statement (or “no external funding”).
• AI use declaration (if any), aligned with journal policy.
• ORCID iD for all authors.
